In India, parents, peers, society, culture etc play a significant role in choosing a career of a student. For example, various communities' identities are associated with particular pre decided professions in India. This may create pressure on students and can influence their career choice.

Parallely, our self concepts, self doubts, career biases also play a significant role while deciding a career. For example, If someone has a fear of public speaking, he / she / they might completely refuse to choose any profession which involves people dealing, despite having suitable potential.
